Last Lovers

Last Lovers - William Wharton Absolutely my favorite!! :) If you have't read Wharton yet this book is the perfect one to start with. it can be shocking especially when you read the love scenes as the main character, a young artist falls in love with an elderly blind woman. Those emotions, however, are beautifully painted here, the book or the love scene description aren't tasteless- as some say. Don't believe them! The story is tender, nicely written (it's Wharton's-his-only-style), but not only. It's not just another love story, it gives you a broader perspective on relationship where boundaries does not exist, nor age nor cultural. it is beautiful. High recommendation, fiver stars !

Conversations with Woody Allen: His Films, the Movies, and Moviemaking (Vintage)

Conversations with Woody Allen: His Films, the Movies, and Moviemaking - Eric Lax Great book for movie lovers :) The book is an excellent compilation of Allen's chats, films, photos. Moreover, you can learn more about him as the questions were asked at different moments and time of his life. I think, paradoxically that this is one of the best piece of art by Woody Allen. The author must have spent hours and hours interviewing Woody Allen and now we have a great insight into world best director's life. Great :)

Mehndi : The Timeless Art of Henna Painting

Mehndi: The Timeless Art of Henna Painting - Loretta Roome Great how-to-do-it and learn-some-history book. I'm kind of interested in this henna art and i thought why not to learn how to do it? So I did and this book helped a lot. The book also helps to find proper henna sellers, the powder is of really good quality. But it gives also some deeper insight in the issue, henna is not just a body painting. It's more symbolic, also in the religious aspect, and it's great to get to know more about this mystic art practiced by women all over the world. If you're interested in henna painting or you would like to try it, you need to read this book. Hight four stars recommendation!

The Lost Continent: Travels in Small-Town America

The Lost Continent: Travels in Small Town America - Bill Bryson Excellent, it makes both the history and language interesting. Bryson goes on a trip following the traces of English language and history of America. Someone would say- why, what for and how can it be interesting? Well, Bill Bryson can make each topic amusing, funny and compelling. As i'm not really fond of history books , I'm really fond of Bryson! I love his way of writing and a presentation of a subject in a giving manner, mainly with humor and laugh. But it's not only entertaining, it's also informative. It provides readers with a huge amount of knowledge, and Bryson in some issues go even deeper. Really nice concept, style. I'm not objective as I simply love this author :)

Why Men Love Bitches: From Doormat to Dreamgirl - A Woman's Guide to Holding Her Own in a Relationship

Why Men Love Bitches: From Doormat to Dreamgirl - A Woman's Guide to Holding Her Own in a Relationship - Sherry Argov Well. I' ve heard a lot about this book and I read many pro and cons. That's why i decided to read it myself. Well, I must say that there is some interesting remarks about relationships and how women should behave in it. It is true that some girls just get immersed in to their partner's life and simply lose their own. It's well written self-help book, however, not for me. That's why I give it only two stars, it simply doesn't correspond to me.

Birdy

Birdy - William Wharton The book starts with a picture of a main character, Birdy, sitting in the military mental hospital . He is introverted, eccentric , reserved, obsessed with birds and full of dreams about flying and being free. Birdy's doctor, having not a clue about main character's thoughts, asks Birdy's friend Al for help to get Birdy 'down' to the reality. Then we know more about their common childhood and their adventures. We get to know an abusive Al's family and Birdy's obsession with birds. The scenes with canaries are are absolutely amazing. You may actually perceive them as humans or yourself as a bird!! This is just brilliant. Wharton is excellent as always. His way of describing reality is emotional, sensual and touching. If you haven't read anything by Wharton you may start with this one. Strong four stars from me.
